We are the direct descendants of those at Shady Grove Cemetery, an African American burial ground in Cape Girardeau County, MO. Although we are spread throughout the country, we have come together to honor our ancestors and share some of their stories and contributions to America.
Our purpose is to preserve our family's historic enslaved and freedmen's cemetery from further erosion, vandalism, and encroachment and to restore and maintain Shady Grove Cemetery, a registered national historic site, as a vital piece of American history.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and fund our mission.
